Blood Sugar Levels Too High? 2 Tips To Lose Weight To Get The Levels Back To Normal

The average blood sugar levels can range from 60 to 90 depending on when the blood sugar levels are taken. For example, the levels will be lower if you have your blood drawn after fasting (not eating) for a few hours than if you have the blood drawn right after you eat. The doctor will know when the number you have is too high, however. Once this happens you are at the beginning stages of type 2 diabetes. Fortunately, losing weight can help bring the levels down so you can get back to normal. Below are two tips to help you lose weight so you can get started.

Eat a Healthy Diet

Go through your refrigerator and cabinets and remove all unhealthy food, such as candy, chips, soda, and anything else with a lot of sugar and that is high in calories. Once all the unhealthy food is removed, replace it with healthy food. This includes things like raw green, leafy vegetables, and fruits. You can also eat hummus, string cheese, trail mix, low-fat yogurt, rice cakes, popcorn with no butter, and much more.

You will still crave sweet foods, and occasionally, you should allow yourself to have something, such as a candy bar or milkshake. This should be only once every few months or once a month. This way you will not completely deprive yourself.

Hire a nutritionist if you need help with your nutrition. It can be confusing when it comes to counting fats, carbs, calories, etc. You may think you are eating healthy food when you may not be.

Or, if you don't enjoy cooking, visit a healthy food restaurant in your area every once in a while.

Exercise

Along with a healthy diet you need to exercise. This could be joining a gym in your area to take aerobics classes or weight training. If you do not want to join a gym, ask a friend to walk with you each day. You do need to brisk walk, however, as you will not lose weight if you walk slowly.

Turn on your favorite music and dance around your living room for 20 to 30 minutes for exercise. Swimming is another great exercise. If you do not have a pool, there should be an inside or outside pool in your area that you can use.

To help you can add exercise into your day. For example, take the stairs instead of the elevator. Park your car further away from the entrance. Walk to a restaurant if it is close to where you work instead of driving.

See your doctor on a regular basis to monitor your weight loss and your blood sugar levels.
